Ceylon Tea Trails comprises four colonial tea planters' bungalows, set among lush Ceylon tea estates, and infused with a new and decidedly gourmet vibe. Each villa, built between 1890 and 1939, offers a taste of colonial living thanks to butler service & authentic period furnishings. Castlereagh and Summerville bungalows have lakefront positions, while Norwood has the best pool, with panoramic views. Tientsin is the most traditional colonial.
Opened by the tea company Dilmah, the resort will teach you everything you need to know about the perfect brew. Guests are absorbed into life on a working tea estate, whilst revelling in five-star luxury.

Dominique Nordmann, CEO of Forbes & Walker Leisure, managers of Tea Trails, explained that the service concept is based on delivering experiences ranging from a range of activities in the lush tea country, the “Tea Experience” with the resident tea planter, gourmet food, comfort and flexibility. “Our all inclusive concept where the rateincludes all meals, high tea, wines and liquors, laundry, service charge and taxes is now well appreciated by our guests”, explained Mr. Nordmann. Ceylon Tea Trails, since opening three years ago, has consistently achieved a 98% “Excellent” rating by guests.
Tea Trails must now rank as the resort that has received the most accolades of any resort in Sri Lanka by the International press in such a short time.
