DE PIJP APARTMENT
AMSTERDAM
46 sqm
A complete reimagining of a modest worker’s apartment in the vibrant heart of De Pijp, this project transforms a compact footprint into a refined urban retreat. Stripped back to its raw shell—floors lifted, walls laid bare—the apartment was given a new architectural clarity and purpose.
A new staircase to the loft, once used as a bathroom, is a feature in the small apartment. A galley kitchen forms the connective spine between dining and living, while a sliding timber panel allows the living space to close off gracefully, offering flexibility as a guest room when required. Above, the former loft bathroom has been re-envisioned as a bedroom that opens onto a private terrace—an unexpected sanctuary above the city.
Grey oak defines the interior language, softened by soft white walls, balustrades, and countertops. Wide-plank solid oak flooring runs seamlessly throughout, grounding the space in warmth and material continuity.
The result is a calm, contemporary dwelling—thoughtfully crafted, spatially intelligent, and quietly expressive.
