Shangri-la Chi Spa

Bangkok, Thailand

The architectural and interior design of the flagship spa for Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, the hotel group’s first signature spa brand.

Architectural principles of a Tibetan temple inspire the vast 1000-square-meter spa, creating an ambience of sacred indulgence.

The treatment suites are among the most spacious in the world. Each suite offers a concept that provides each guest with their changing shower and toilet areas, as well as heat treatment, bathing and relaxation spaces.

The atmospheric elements - from moving shafts of light to the smell of scented incense and the sound of Tibetan singing bowls - all lend themselves to the mystical aura of the Shangri-La legend.

The colours are vibrant, and the finishes are understated and natural.

Prague, Czech Republic

The conceptual design for the refurbishment of an existing spa in a neoclassical landmark hotel in Prague.

The large indoor pool in the hotel’s basement is the pivotal feature of the interior design concept for this contemporary interpretation of traditional Roman baths.

Screens creating lighting effects and water reflections are key elements of the design concept. The original architectural features have been preserved and integrated where possible. The carefully considered interior finishes and furnishings enhance the classical elements of the architecture.

All seating and lounging areas are built into the interior architecture, creating a homogeneous design that merges the interiors and the architecture.
